In short, by using this site you accept all of the statements below to be true. You agree that you will not take any information on this site to be professional or medical advice. You agree that you are not my patient unless I have seen you in my office, completed an evaluation, offered you treatment that you accepted, AND you currently have an open chart with me.

For those who are currently my active patients, you agree NOT to use any email address you may have for me (however you have obtained it) unless we have a specific agreement. Even with a specific agreement, you agree NOT to communicate any urgent or emergency information via email, but rather to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency psychiatric service center or ER in the case of life-threatening emergencies. In the case of urgent problems, you agree to use my urgent message phone line. You agree that you will be responsible for the release of any information you choose to send via any email or internet service.

More specific detail:

  1. This site is for informational purposes only and is not intended to serve as professional or medical advice. It should not be relied upon as a substitute for consultations with qualified professionals who are familiar with your individual needs. This means that none of the information on this website is personalized, which means that it is general. It is not meant to take the place of a proper history and evaluation with a professional mental health provider. The purpose of this website is to give general information that you might want to consider in your search to understand and help yourself and for the purposes of finding a professional to help you on your journey.
  2. In this age of exponential information growth, it is impossible for one person to have read and considered every word written on any subject. This means that information on this site may not include every point of view, every recent update, or additional important information that may affect your situation. That is one of the reasons not to take any information on this site as psychiatric advice.
  3. Please remember that I do not use the internet, including this website or any email address to me, in order to treat patients. If I have not seen you in my office, completed an evaluation, and offered treatment to you that you have accepted with a current open chart with me, then you are not my patient. For my current patients, please keep in mind that I will not be using the internet or any email address connected to me in order to treat you. Please do NOT use any email system to communicate about any kind of emergency. Please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room or Emergency Psychiatric Service Provider for life-threatening emergencies. For urgent matters that need my attention ASAP, please use my urgent message phone line.
  4. Just because you have contacted me does not mean that I will contact you. As a solo practitioner, I fill all the required roles to run my practice, including the business aspects, in addition to my role as a psychiatrist. This means that I cannot answer every call nor respond to every email, even though I would like to. I apologize beforehand, but my first allegiance and attention must be to my current patients, and only to potential patients after that. In addition to my life as a psychiatrist, I also have a personal life. Again, the limited availability of time means that I must balance all my commitments, and sometimes that means I will not have time to respond to every phone call.

In summary

By using this site you accept all of the statements above to be true. You agree that you will not take any information on this site to be professional or medical advice. You agree that you are not my patient unless I have seen you in my office, completed an evaluation, offered you treatment that you accepted, AND you currently have an open chart with me. You agree that you will NOT use any email system to communicate any urgent or emergency problems. You agree that you will be responsible for the release of any information you send via any email address you have for me.
