I have been in private practice in Poway, California, since 1998, and now have more than 20 years of experience working in the mental health field, including specialized training in many areas. Prior to my training in psychiatry, I completed a 3 year residency in pediatrics and was board certified in pediatrics from 1994 - 2008. My training in psychiatry was extensive, including a full 3 years in an Adult Psychiatry program, followed by 2 years in the Child & Adolescent Fellowship here at UCSD. In order to round out my medical training, I completed the extensive and in-depth training of becoming a psychoanalyst.
I have substantial experience and a special interest in psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and children. I am very interested in the troubling patterns of interaction that interfere in the attainment of a satisfying life in any of life’s arenas, including relationship problems, the struggles of childhood and adolescence,as well as grief & grieving. Specific disorders that are also of special interest to me include anxiety, depression, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, social phobia, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), schizophrenia, and autistic spectrum disorders.
