The language of childhood is play and so the best way to connect, communicate with, and help most children less than 10 years old is through play. But play therapy is more than just playing; it is a special way, a therapeutic way, of playing with children. As children become pre-adolescents and adolescents their preferred mode of communicating moves into the realm of words and thus most adolescents respond better to talking types of therapy. I have training in Play Therapy, however I am not a Registered Play Therapist, which requires a special intensive training program.
